Above is the 99.9 percent finished headlight. All it lacks is the number plate frames and light bulb. I chromed the reflector using an electro less chroming kit I purchased on the Internet. It is extremely easy to use and the results are incredible. The kit came with excellent directions and everything you need. The hardest part is the prep work and I would advise being hyper vigilant about cleaning and polishing. It really shows in the finish product.

I decided to modify the smoke box and the pilot so that they were a closer match to the 1920 photos I have. The new front end is scratch built from styrene. I stacked thin discs of styrene of smaller and smaller diameters up to get the curve. The plate that holds the door is attached with #9 brass hex bolts. As near as I can tell it is the exact number appearing in the photos,,, can.t vouch for the spacing though.

Here she sets, the engine is about 99.9 percent finished. I have had a modeler.s block for the past few months because of the breaks. I can.t make out clear enough details on the photos so I.ve been trying to muster up the courage to move on and finish them. It is the only major part of the engine holding me up before I move on to the tender.
